How long do eyelash extensions last?

When properly applied by a certified lash technician and carefully looked after, eyelash extensions can remain in place from 3-6 weeks or until your natural lash falls out (lashes grow in cycles of about 60 to 120 days). It is normal to lose up to 5 natural lashes per day!! To keep your lashes looking as fabulous as when they are first applied; regular 2 – 4 weekly infill treatments are necessary as your eyelash extensions will gradually diminish in number due to the natural shedding and replenishing cycle of your own eyelashes.

How do I prepare for my eyelash extensions treatment?

Lash application time can easily be used up by the need to clean eyes in preparation for your treatment – to avoid this please come to your appointment with clean, makeup free eyes. Be prepared to relax for 1-2 hours, many clients like to bring their iPod to listen to while relaxing and some even fall asleep and wake with beautiful new lash extensions.

What is an 'Infill'?

A few weeks after having a full set of lashes applied, your lashes will start to fall out naturally ready to grow new ones. So when this happens you may start to notice your lash extensions thinning out, this is when you should get an infill. Infill procedure is just applying new eyelash extensions to the new eyelashes that have grown, filling in the gaps.

Can I wear makeup on my lash extensions?

Normal use of eye makeup is fine. However, you should not find it necessary to use mascara on a daily basis, the beauty about eyelash extensions is that you don’t need mascara! :) If you choose to use mascara at any time it is essential you only use a water-based mascara (not water-proof or oil-based) – regular use of mascara may shorten the lifespan of your lash extensions. Care must also be taken when removing makeup not to use any products that are contain oil or glycols – these all weaken the adhesive bond and cause eyelash extensions to fall off prematurely. If you can not remove the makeup out of your extensions properly, this means we will have to do it at your infill appointment, this may result in an extra charge or even having to remove them all and starting again!

Do eyelash extensions damage your natural eyelashes?

No. The eyelash extension products I use are completely safe and will not damage your natural lashes when applied. As with any beauty treatment you should go to a professional trained and certified eyelash extension technician, as application by an uncertified technician, use of low quality products, or having them applied incorrectly may result in damage to your natural lashes.

Can I have eyelash extensions if I don't have many eyelashes?

Eyelash Extensions can only be applied to natural eyelashes. If you have experienced eyelash loss for any reason, you must wait until your eyelashes have re-grown before having Eyelash Extensions applied. We will explain this more in a full consultation. An excellent option to encourage the growth and healthy condition of your natural eyelashes is using a Lash & Brow Conditioner which works by stimulating the hair follicle and results in longer, thicker, healthier lashes – all the more lashes to extend!

Should I have a trial set of eyelash extensions done before applying them for an event?

Eyelash Extensions are a favourite for brides especially – long, luscious, perfect lashes with no need for mascara. Eyelash Extensions should be applied two days prior to the wedding day, this ensures that they are looking at their optimum fullness on the big day and a trial set should be applied around one/two months earlier.

Trial sets of eyelash extensions, while not essential, are definitely advisable – for those special occasions as we want to ensure you are perfectly happy.
